Cebu Daily News staff took a break on Wednesday afternoon to welcome their kids, nieces, nephews and grandchildren who were looking for fun and lots of goodies, including candies and chocolates.

About 35 children dressed as mythical creatures and superheroes visited the CDN office at 3 p.m. and stayed on for three-hours of fun, food and surprises.

It was already the third year for the newspaper company to initiate the trick or treat as part of the “engagement program for employees,” said Human Resource specialist Frances Mediodia.

Mediodia said it is important for employees and their children to also enjoy the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days aside from doing the traditional cemetery and church visits.

In last Wednesday’s trick of treat, children were treated to a movie entitled “The Secret Life of Pets” at the CDN library. They later went around the different offices to collect sweets.

Scary-looking creatures and lots of spider web greeted them as they entered the CDN front desk, advertising, finance and circulation, FEP printing and editorial offices.

Spiderwebs and black and beige balloons greeted kids when they entered the CDN front desk.

A floating ghost was stationed near the main entrance of the finance and circulation office while a pumpkin, scary-looking masks and spiders secured sweets kept inside the editorial office.

Exhausted from their office visits, the children were then treated to yummy snacks consisting of Halloween-themed cupcakes prepared by CDN editor-in-chief Edralyn Benedicto and donuts from Krispy Kreme.

Mediodia also handed out loot bags full of goodies.

While kids collected their loot bags, employees also scampered to look for 40 stickers of mythical creatures which Mediodia posted on common areas located in the different offices. Each sticker had a prize of P50.

Employees also shared with the kids treats given by Bigseed Public Relations and Events, Krispy Kreme and Clint Kamms Corporation.
