BALLOONS and cotton candy are favorites of children accompanying their parents visiting the graves of their loved ones.
With this target market, Matilde Cepillos with the help of her grandson Anthony, 13, sell balloons at the Calamba Cemetery.
The balloons, which came in various shapes and colors, were sold at P25, and in five hours, the Cepillos sold 20 balloons.
In another corner of the street leading to the cemetery, cotton candy maker Beebi Coronado, 43, is also optimistic of selling her products to the Carreta crowd.
She said she invested P8,000 for the cotton candy maker and had a return of her investments in five months of diligently selling her products in fiestas and churchgoers on Sundays.
She said she had been selling cotton candy for the last 17 years.
“Every year, we come here to sell. We also sell during fiestas within the city and nearby towns as well. If people have money, they buy. If our products get sold out, then God has been merciful,” she said.
She also said that the brightly colored balloons and cotton candy could help make visiting the departed in the cemetery into a celebration and not just a gloomy experience.
