FUTURE collaboration and development of new projects were discussed during the visit Saitama Prefectural Governor Kiyoshi Ueda at the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) last October 22.
The visit aimed to create a new network between the Cebu Provincial government, Saitama Prefectural government and USJ-R, across the academic, government and business spheres involved in the Saitama-Cebu Comprehensive Human Resource Monozukiri Project.
“We are aiming for university students to come and join the Japanese companies. This project will be beneficial for Saitama and Cebu and further enhance the relationship of both parties,” said Ueda.
The Japanese delegation consisted of officials from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Saitama academic community and the business sector.
The HR Monozukiri Project was first launched in November 2013 and a product of collaboration between the USJ-R and Toyo University under the sponsorship of JICA.
The multi-phased program trains engineering students on the Monozukiri principle, or the Japanese manufacturing approach and philosophy, that aims to maximize customer satisfaction and put premium on excellent product quality while being mindful of the environment.
The program also prepares engineering students for work in Japanese companies here and abroad.
The Institute of Monozukiri will oversee the continued implementation of the Monozukiri project in Cebu, which has now included engineering students from the University of San Carlos and Cebu Institute of Technology-University.
