TWO tropical depressions were spotted outside the country, with one of them expected to make its entry this morning, the Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa said yesterday.

Pagasa Mactan weather specialist Jhomer Eclarino said the tropical depression was spotted east of Luzon at 4 p.m. yesterday packing winds measuring 45 kph and moving northwest at 17 kph.

It was previously detected east of Visayas a few hours earlier but Eclarino said that its direction had been moving upward.

He said it’s possible that the tropical depression will intensify and develop into a tropical storm.

The second tropical depression is located 2,920 km east of Luzon but Eclarino said it is unlikely to enter the country.

It has a maximum wind of 55 kph, gustiness of 70 kph and is moving west northwest at 25 kph.

Due to the intertropical convergence zone along with thunderstorms, Eclarino said the Visayas will experience moderate to heavy rains in the next few days mostly in the afternoon and evening.
