About 1,500 households in four sitios of Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu city were hit by floodwater due to this week’s rains.
Sitios Tondon, Sto. Niño, Sudtonggan and Iba experienced ankle to knee-deep flood waters in the past few days. The barangay had only one motorized pump and residents had to contribute money to buy the gasoline and the flexible pipe.
The city government will add three more pumps including a submersible pump to drain the floodwaters.
It was also learned that the Cebu Light Industrial Park blocked the natural waterway of the low-lying area going to a creek nearby.
The company is considering to open a portion of their property for a drainage.
