BEWARE of a caller who uses the name of Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) director, to solicit money, cell phone load and even give orders to police officers in a
station.

The PRO-7 chief gave this warning to the public yesterday against this bogus caller who is impersonating him.

“Hinihikayat ko yung media na ipaabot sa ating mga kababayan na ginagamit yung pangalan ko (I urge the members of the media to inform the public that somebody is using my name) to solicit load. I’ve also heard of an incident where the caller used my name to ask for P6,000 from somebody,” Taliño told reporters.

“Hindi ako nagpapa-solicit, hindi ko ginagawa iyan (It’s not like me to solicit for money, I don’t do that). I was surprised to learn this,” he said.

He said they are trying to trace the caller but for now he is warning the public about this bogus caller.

He said there was even an instance when the caller ordered police officers of a Cebu City police station to deploy security in a barangay in Cebu City, an order which he promptly disapproved when he learned about it.

He reminded police officers that he usually would not give orders directly to police officers but his orders would go through the chain of command, through the commanding officer.

He again reiterated his call to the public that if they received calls from a person identifying himself as the PRO-7 chief and soliciting money or load, then report this to the nearest police station.
