Provincial police director dismisses Abu threat in Carcar

Provincial police director Senior Supt. Eric Noble in a Facebook message to Cebu Daily News negated a threat report regarding a Ceres bus supposedly cornered by an Abu Sayyaf group, stating that they did not receive such information.

“No report. Alam ko galing sa Fb na post binuang (From what I know, that Facebook post is a hoax),” Noble stated.

Candice Acuña, information officer of Carcar City, reacted on her Facebook account regarding the incident.

“There are vicious reports circulating Facebook tonight about an incident in Brgy. Ocana where a supposed Ceres bus were harassed by militant groups. THIS IS NOT TRUE! I personally called and talked to our Police Chief Liddawa and he said that it is not true,” posted Acuña.

She said that there is a Ceres bus outside the station because it figured in a traffic accident in Carcar.

“It is right to be vigilant but we also should not believe anything right away especially if it is posted in Facebook. Please confirm the veracity of the report before you click share,” she added.

Noble also maintained that towns all the way to the south are now heavily manned by police operatives.
