ELORDE AS GAUGE OF PRICES OF BASIC GOODS
During a consultative conference on proposed wage hikes in the region, a labor union member pointed out how prices of basic commodities have greatly increased over the years. He cited flour as an example and how this has affected the quality of bread people can avail. Before, he said, an “Elorde” (a fist-shaped bread named after boxer Gabriel Elorde) was as a hard as the boxer’s fist it could leave a dent on walls. Now, it’s just as soft as a pillow.

TWO BOSSES, SAME MOLD
A government worker decided to quit her job after having enough flak from her boss. She said her boss was too demanding and embarrasses the worker and the worker’s colleagues in public. The worker even claimed that the boss would give them jobs which are not in their job description, and would let them work at unreasonable hours. The worker’s current boss, however, would have to step down soon because this boss was just on an acting capacity. The real boss would be back soon after serving a suspension. The worker, however, is set on leaving the job. The worker claimed that the acting boss and the real boss are much of the same mold, it’s just that the real boss would show appreciation of a job well done.
