FOR THE second straight year, the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors won’t be participating in the Cesafi beach volleyball tournament.
This as the Warriors failed anew to find players who will be suiting up for the annual tournament which opens on Dec. 3 at the Southwestern University (SWU) beach volleyball court.
“We don’t have players for both the men’s and women’s teams for the Cesafi beach volleyball tournament,” said USC athletics director Fr. Andring Ocariza.
Last year, the Warriors didn’t compete in the annual event following the departure of their beach spikers Julia Garcia and Aira Velasco due to confidential reasons. That left team captain Debbie Mae Gamboa as the only beach volleybelle for the school.
With Gamboa set to graduate in March 2017, it might take a while for the Warriors to play again in the collegiate beach volleyball tournament.
That means all eyes, for the meantime, will be on the USC Baby Warriors, who look to rebound from their semifinal round loss to eventual champions Southwestern University.
The Baby Warriors pulled off six straight victories in the eliminations only to lose against the Baby Cobras in the semifinals.
