JANELLA Salvador has been chosen to sing “How Far I’ll Go,” the theme song of  Disney’s “Moana” for the upcoming Philippine release of the movie this month.

The announcement came last Tuesday (Nov. 8) during a press conference for the Disney animation film in Singapore.

At the event, the Kapamilya actress got to meet Auli’i Cravalho, who provides the voice of the lead character,  as well as the other singers from Southeast Asia.

“Moana” is about an adventurous teenager who is inspired to leave the safety and security of her island on a daring  journey to save her people.

Inexplicably drawn to the ocean, Moana convinces the mighty demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) to join her mission, and he reluctantly helps her become a wayfinder like her ancestors who sailed before her.

Together, they voyage across the open ocean on an action-packed adventure, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds.

Along the way, Moana fulfills her quest and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.

The film is slated to open in Philippine theaters on Nov. 30.

This is the second time Janella was tapped to sing for Disney. She performed “Happily Ever After” to represent the Filipino community during the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong Disneyland.
