The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Central Visayas (LTFRB-7) is serving notice to GrabCar and Uber unit drivers with the latest apprehension of another GrabCar unit at the Basilica del Santo Niño.

The GrabCar unit, a black Suzuki Ciaz, owned by Reggie Basco, a resident of Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, was seized in an operation conducted by the LTFRB-7 at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, said Emil Membrillas, information officer of LTFRB-7.

“That GrabCar was colorum, meaning no franchise,” Membrillas told Cebu Daily News.

To recall, LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra announced last September the suspension of the application for the transportation network vehicle services (TNVS).

“With the suspension of the TNVS application, this means that that temporarily there should be no GrabCar and Uber units that must be plying the streets,” Membrillas said.

This is the second GrabCar unit apprehended — the first one was apprehended last All Souls’ Day. The first Uber unit was also apprehended last All Soul’s Day.

Membrillas said Basco would pay the penalty of P120,000 while the vehicle would be impounded for three months by the Land Transportation Office (LTO-7).
