CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has been cleared by the Ombudsman over allegations of indirect bribery when he allegedly received two Chrysler Dodge Charger from Bigfoot Studios during his previous term in 2009.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales said that there was lack of probable cause in the criminal case filed by the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas against Osmeña for violation of RA No. 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees; PD No. 46 and Article 211 of the Revised Penal Code, which prohibit direct or indirect acceptance of gifts or favors for public officials and employees.
The administrative case for misconduct against the mayor was also dismissed for lack of substantial evidence.
“It’s about time. They (Team Rama) are so desperate about this case. Number one, when the cars were bought, they were five years old. Why are they using a brand new price?” he said.
