SOME of the finest word wizards are expected to join the Roger Abella Memorial Open Scrabble Tournament 2016 this weekend at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
The tournament is held in honor of the late “Ka Roger Abella,” the founding father of Cebu’s scrabble community.
The tournament is organized by his wife, Marilyn Abella, in cooperation with the Cebu Scrabble Association (CSA), Cebu City Sports Commission, department of Education, Abella Clan, Rose Pharmacy and Robinson’s Cybergate.
Among the top word wizards joining in the professional division are Darth Eslao, Jay-r Martus, Jowar Ayuno, Joel Toroy and Renante dela Cerna.
Junior word wizards Lawrence Dave Candia and Jeat Lear of Cebu City National Science High School leads the list of the top contenders in the high school and elementary division.
There will be an onsite registration on Saturday before the tournament kicks off in 10 a.m.
