CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said the Team Rama councilors should stop complaining why they had not been granted monthly communication allowance.
“Don’t be a cry baby. That’s life,” he said.
Councilor Joel Garganera earlier questioned the General Services Office over their unreleased P5,000 allowance.
Osmeña recalled an instance during the administration of former mayor Michael Rama wherein the council slashed the budget for this year by excluding the P2 million that was supposed to be used for the renovation of his office.
He added that when Rama was still the mayor, the city spent P20 million to fix his office.
“They didn’t even give me P1, they didn’t even give me P1,000. They gave me zero. Why are they complaining?” Osmeña asked.
“I’m sport, they should also be good sport. They set the tone,” he said.
Osmeña said the Team Rama councilors have been treating him that way since then and even now that he is mayor.
“So now they know how it feels like,” he said.
Meanwhile, Garganera said all the councilors were able to avail of the allowance before. “That communication allowance is a privilege to city councilors,” Garganera said in a text message.
He added that he is the chairman of the Committee on Telecommunication but does not have his own telecommunication allowance. “That is the irony of it,” he said.
