Cops arrest Jaguar’s hitman-drug courier

CEBU CITY–Police arrested an alleged hitman and drug courier of slain drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz in Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City on Saturday dawn.

Joselito Tecson, 36, did not resist arrest and was brought to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) where he was currently detained.

Senior Insp. Narrolf Tan, chief of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG), said they had been looking for Tecson for two months.

“Sige man siyag balhin-balhin nay nagtago-tago naman ni siya. At least nakuha gyud nato siya. (He kept on transferring from one place to another because he was hiding. But at least, we were able to finally catch him),” he said.

Operatives of CAIDSOTG and the City Intelligence Branch led by Chief Insp. Christopher Navida served three warrants of arrest on Tecson issued by two trial court judges.

Judge James Stewart Ramon Himalaloan of the Regional Trial Court Branch 57 ordered Tecson’s arrest on charges of violating Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act 9165), particularly for selling illegal drugs.

Judge Sylva Aguirre-Paderanga issued two arrest warrants against Tecson for unlawful possession of explosives and firearms.

Tecson was tight-lipped when asked about his participation in Diaz’s illegal drugs trade.

“I don’t know about that,” he said.

Tecson refused to elaborate.

He will be presented to the court that issued the arrest warrants.

Tan said Tecson hid for two months until the police found him after he returned to his house.

The suspect was watching television when the police barged into his residence around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

“We are trying our best to arrest all members of big-time drug operators. We worked hard to find him (Tecson). We’re glad we finally arrested him,” Tan said.

Tecson was allegedly a member of the group of Diaz who was killed in a police operation in Las Piñas City last June 17. Diaz was considered Central Visayas’ top drug lord.
