UV cagers off to winning start in SBP Passerelle Tournament

THE University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers got their bid for the national crown going as they crushed Berkeley, 50-40, at the start of the national finals of the SBP division in the Milo-backed SBP Passerelle Tournament yesterday at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.

The wards of head coach Jaymar Canoy broke the game wide open in the third where they opened up leads that went as high as 15 points at 48-33 before cruising to the easy win over their Baguio-based opponents.

Sean Salarza led UV with 14 points.

In the other game in the SBP division, defending champions La Salle Greenhills demolished Xavier University, 75-44.

In the Passerelle division, reigning titleholders Adamson University clobbered International School for Better Beginnings, 69-48, while Bacolod Tay Tung defeated Holy Cross of Davao, 67-60.
