A 40-footer container van plowed electrical lines along New Imus Road at noontime yesterday, causing power interruption in the area.

The truck owned by GDR Trucking and driven by Alan de Paz dragged the primary line hanging above the road, causing the electric post holding it to tilt.

Veco Community Relations officer Eric Ching said Veco personnel were deployed to the area yesterday to fix the damage and to restore electricity probably by 12 midnight yesterday.

Ching said the electric post had to be replaced, as it suffered cracks. He said they were still assessing the damage caused by GDR Trucking yesterday before sending a demand letter on Monday to let the trucking company answer for the damages.

Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) had to close the two lanes of New Imus Road that were rendered impassable due to dangling wires. The driver’s license of De Paz was confiscated by the LTO pending investigation.
