THE DON Bosco Technological Center (DBTC)-F Team trashed sister team DBTC-C, 6-2, to emerge champion in the Under-9 division of the 18th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the DBTC football field in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
Czar Daanoy opened the scoring for DBTC-F in the second minute then continued his game-long brilliance with goals in the 18th and 26th minutes of the game en route to the title victory.
Finishing in third place was Paref Springdale, which crushed a small Consolacion squad, 7-0.
Eventual Golden Boot awardee Ethan Roxas carried the team with five goals. He finished the whole tournament with 17.
Finals delayed
In the Under-7 finals, Giuseppe FC banked on its defense to beat DBTC, 4-0.
Scoring for Giuseppe were Xavier Castañares (6th minute), James Mañapao (17th minute), and Janry Colina (15th and 19th minute).
“I commend Don Bosco for playing a very good game and they were very well-coached,” Giuseppe FC Head Coach Cloyd Kevin Abare said.
Canduman FC finished third place after surviving Einstein FC, 6-4.
The U-7 finals was delayed for about 40 minutes because of officiating issues. It was learned that a game referee supposed to handle the game did not arrive on time.
Cebu Football Association vice president Rico Navarro said they will look into the matter and impose the proper sanctions if needed.
“The board will review everything and go through the process,” said Navarro, “But for now, we need to review the circumstances.”
