Talisay City scores ninth straight win

TALISAY City continued to gain steam heading to the playoffs of the Samsam Gullas Cup as it pounded Carcar City, 111-100, in a high-scoring affair on Sunday at the Talisay City Sports Complex.

Former Adamson Baby Falcon Denzel Sabroso showcased his all-around skills as he filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, four rebounds, six assists and six steals to lead the host team to its ninth win in a row, good for the best record in Division A with just one more game to go in the double round-robin elimination round.

Carcar dropped to 2-7 (win-loss) record.

In another game in the triple-header, Sibonga finally grabbed its first win of the competition after beating Naga City, 87-72.

At the helm of that morale-boosting victory was Napoleon Escarda Jr., who nearly had a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds along with four assists and two steals.

Sibonga improved to 1-8 while Naga fell to a tie with Carcar.

Jhiesel Tarrosa came up big to tow Minglanilla past San Fernando, 69-64.

Tarrosa finished with 12 points and 13 boards to help Minglanilla remain on top of Division B at 7-2. San Fernando dropped to 6-3.
