Two women were arrested in an entrapment operation after they allegedly tried to extort money from a food manufacturing company based in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

Aldara Piñero, 40, and Sistine Piñero, both residents of Barangay Labangon in Cebu City, were monitored for two weeks before they were arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI 7) in a mall in Cebu City on Tuesday night, said NBI 7 director Patricio Bernales Jr.

Sunpride Foods Inc. general operations manager Henry Dy said Aldara and Sistine tried to extort money amounting to P735,000 from the company.

“They uploaded a video in Aldara Mirafuentes Facebook account claiming that the corned beef they bought was rotten and contained worms,” said Dy.

The video went viral and was shared many times.

Dy said they tried to negotiate with Aldara and Sistine but the women told them they won’t take down the video unless they pay them the amount equivalent to the number of views, which at the time of negotiation, was already viewed 735,000 times.

Sunpride Foods Inc. together with NBI 7 will file cyber libel charges that is punishable under Republic Act. No. 10175 also known as the Cyber Crime Law against Aldara and Sistine at the City Prosecutors’ office.
