Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) can accommodate more patients with the inauguration of its Cebu City North District Hospital Building on Friday morning.

The new facility, which will be operational by January 2017, adds 130 beds to VSMMC which can currently accommodate 1,280 patients according to VSMMC information officer Nonoy Mongaya.

Cebu City North District Representative Raul Del Mar said that the facility will boost VSMMC’s capacity to accommodate more patients especially those from the north district.

“It is not exclusive but primarily the priority patients are from our district. Second is from south district and if necessary from Cebu and other provinces,” Del Mar said.

The 4-storey building project cost P79.1 million.

The Department of Health (DOH-7) Director Jaime Bernadas, VSMMC Medical Chief Dr. Gerardo Aquino and former Congresswoman Cutie Del Mar were also present to witness the inauguration of the building.
