UNIVERSITY of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) new recruit Dan Andrian Garnica is in danger of missing the entire Cesafi beach volleyball season after playing just one game.
This after the 20-year old Siquijor native suffered yet another problem with his transfer papers.
Everything looked well for the six-foot-two Garnica last Saturday as he helped the Panthers go nip-and-tuck with the defending champions University of San Jose-Recoletos before falling short 30-28, 21-16. However later that same night, Garnica received news that there were some discrepancies on his papers.
“He still needs to clear up his NG in Negros Oriental State University before he can play,” a concerned USPF mentor Cecil Jotojot told Cebu Daily News.
The Panthers, who will be missing the services of Garnica this weekend, will have to rely on old reliables Jason Reyes and Ryan Naranjo to deliver the goods as they approach the final week of the elimination round.
Jotojot, however is crossing his fingers that the dust will be settled come playoff time since according to him, they badly need Garnica’s towering presence against the likes of USJ-R and SWU.
The Panthers are currently fourth in the standings with a 1-1 (win-loss) card. They will battle University of Cebu and Cebu Institute Technology-University this weekend.
The Cesafi beach volleyball season ends on Dec. 18.
