Capitol gives cash assistance to six OFWs

Six overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) received P20,000 in cash assistance from the Cebu provincial government on Monday morning after they were stranded in Saudi Arabia for eight months.

They were Tristan Navaja, Leonardo Mangubat Palen, Jecky Tampus Gulben, Rolito Inoc Casilan, Jayson Lago Cortes and Jesus Gale Gonzales, Jr.

The OFWs were employed by Alumcos as glass and aluminum installers under a 2-year contract that was supposed to end on October of this year. But the closed down in January due to the economic crisis that hit Saudi Arabia at that time.

The six were stranded since their papers were not released immediately.
