Council votes for ad hoc review of 93-1 land swap deal

THE City Council referred the land swap deal entered into between the city government and the province to an adhoc committee that would be created to review it.

Eight councilors under the Team Rama bloc and Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella voted in favor of the referral during last Tuesday’s session. Councilor Jose Daluz III pushed for the review and is part of the committee, said a report will be submitted by the committee in one week. But Councilor Hanz Abella objected which resulted to the voting that ended in a tie and Labelle casting his vote in favor of the review. The committee will announce its decision next Tuesday. Mayor Tomas Osmena assured the settlers that should the committee vote to reject the deal he will call for a special election.
