CCPO to give info from Jaguar’s aide to RIAS

TO PIN down other policemen who are into illegal drugs, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will provide the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) with the information relayed to them by the trusted aide of slain drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz.

“I hope they (RIAS) can use it to conduct a case buildup against police officers who were earlier relieved from their posts due to their alleged drug links,” said Senior Supt. Joel Doria, director of CCPO.

Cebu City policemen on Thursday arrested Joselito “Otik” Arellano who identified a barangay captain in the city and at least four noncommissioned officers with a rank of police officer 1 to senior police officer 4 as among those who allowed Jaguar’s illegal drug business to thrive.

Investigators, however, declined to identify the persons named by Arellano while the latter’s claim is being validated.

So far, Doria said Arellano, who reportedly served as Jaguar’s bodyguard and driver, has not executed an affidavit to make formal his admissions.

“I don’t want to preempt what he wants to put on his affidavit because he might retract his statements later on,” the CCPO police director said.

Doria said they were happy that Arellano spilled the beans on their alleged drug protectors.

“We are very fortunate. The suspect knew Jaguar very well, and his statements can help RIAS in their ongoing investigation,” he said.

The four policemen named as “drug protectors” by Arellano were already relieved from their respective posts.
