A TRICYCLE driver never knew that the second dawn Mass that he attended was his last.
Jonathan Inoc, 36, married, of Barangay Magay, Compostela town died after his tricycle collided with a passenger bus around 6 a.m. yesterday along the national highway in Sitio Pag-utlan, Barangay Maslog, Danao City, northern Cebu.
He was brought to Danao Provincial Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
His three passengers, namely Abigail Ann Cuervo, 23; Rendelou Llagas, 35; and Rosamae Cardillo, who are both employees of Mitsumi were also brought to the same hospital for treatment.
PO1 Joseph Alison, a traffic investigator of Danao City Police Station, said that Numeriano Rabadon Jr., 49, married, of Barangay Anapog, San Remegio, driver of air-conditioned Ceres bus (774 CEH), was heading north and tried to overtake a bicycle when he collided with the approaching tricycle driven by Inoc on the opposite lane.
Due to the strong impact, the sidecar was detached and passengers were thrown in different directions.
Another motorcycle rider Jovelito Martel, 35, who was following the tricycle, also got wounded after being hit by the sidecar.
It was learned that after attending a dawn Mass, Inoc took and drove his tricycle to pick up passengers.
Inoc sustained severe head injuries causing his death.
Rabadon was detained at Danao City Police Station.
Representatives of the bus company already came to the police station and said that the company will shoulder all the expenses for the treatment of the victims.
