A house helper was apprehended on Monday afternoon in her home in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City after her employer filed a complaint against her over lost jewelry items.
According to SPO1 Rumualdo Torregosa, Archie Villaceran, 32, admitted to the crime and told policemen about the jewelry items she hid in her house prompting the authorities to conduct a retrieval operation on Tuesday morning.
Over P500,000 worth of jewelry were recovered from Villaceran’s house.
Torregosa told Cebu Daily News that Villaceran’s employer, Katheryn Yap, said that the helper stopped reporting for work since Friday.
He said that Yap, a jewelry reseller, suspected Villaceran of stealing jewelry items from her including her engagement ring which cost at least P180,000.
Villaceran has been working for Yap in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City for only three months.
She is currently detained at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO). She will be charged with qualified theft.
