Mandaue jail warden: Only immediate family members are allowed

ONLY the immediate family members are allowed to visit the inmates of the Mandaue City Jail during the upcoming holidays.
Mandaue City Jail warden Supt. Renante Rubio imposed this rule in a bid to prevent the large number of jail visitors on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Direct family members include the parents, spouses, siblings and children.

Visitation schedules are on December 24 and 25 for Christmas and December 31 and January 1 for New Year.

The visitation hours will be extended from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Friends, cousins and other relatives may visit the detainees after Christmas and New Year.

To ensure and confirm that the visiting individuals are certified direct family members of the inmates, Rubio said they have put in place a biometrics system in all cells that stores the data of all the inmates. “We will not sacrifice the safety and security (this upcoming holidays),” Rubio said.

Mandaue City Jail has an average of 300 visitors every day, but Rubio said they are expecting this number to be tripled starting tomorrow.
