Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary for Institutional Development Mae Fe Templa recently attended a consultation and coordination meeting in Cebu City.

Templa met the team of Dilaab Foundation Inc. headed by Fr. Carmelo Diola to discuss some church-based projects for street children and drug surrenderers. She was joined by the team of DSWD-7 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre.

In the meeting, Templa shared the DSWD’s efforts in helping street children and drug surrenderers.

She said DSWD leads the Pillar 3 of the National Drug Rehabilitation Program which is the Aftercare, Reintegration and Transformation Support for Recovering Drug Dependents.

The group of Templa also met the “Labangers” and their families in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, during their reflection and sharing session.

The “Labangers” are drug surrenderers who have been provided with services by Dilaab in coordination with Barangay Captain Ernie Manatad.

Dilaab is a volunteer-driven, faith-impelled non-profit organization. It is a Christian movement that organizes support groups for public servants and youth to help them consistently make good choices for their own communities in a time when good intentions are easily compromised.
