Slots for upcoming All-Women’s Ultra Marathon sold out in just ten minutes

All 300 slots for the upcoming All Women’s Ultra Marathon (Awum) were filled just 10 minutes after registration opened yesterday.

Cebu Ultrarunners Club’s Tony Galon, one of the organizers, told Cebu Daily News that this year’s time was way better than last year, wherein it took 26 minutes before all 250 slots were taken.

Registration was done online through the event’s Facebook page.

The premier all-women’s footrace will be held on March 11 with the start and finish line situated at the Il Corso grounds at the South Road Properties.

“As one of the organizers, I was very surprised of that Awum is very popular,” Galon said. “A lot of female runners are very interested to join the run knowing that we [will] provide them [with a] quality race.”

The race was supposed to have its final edition last year, but the CUC and ThinkTank decided to bring it back due to clamor from the local running community.

“This running event brings everyone in the Cebu running community together, and participants are treated like queens and princesses,” Galon added.

According to Galon, all of Cebu’s running clubs will have their own female runner to cheer on during the race. They also set up their own water stations along the 50-kilometer route.

Defending champion Preciosa Sanchez will be back to defend her title together with former champion Sandra Soliano, Daisy Batacand, among others.
