A TROPICAL cyclone named Bising entered the country yesterday and is expected to bring light to moderate rain to Cebu, the Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa said.

“Initial forecast shows that this will not take its landfall because of the northeast monsoon (amihan),” said Romeo Aguirre, Pagasa Mactan weather forecaster.

As of 5 p.m. yesterday, tropical depression Bising was at 735 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of 55 kilometers per hour.

A tropical cyclone warning might be issued today over Caraga and Eastern Visayas regions. No gale warning had yet been issued for Central Visayas.
Alfredo Quiblat Jr., chief of Pagasa Mactan, said Bising may move northwest of the country.

“It is possible that Bising will re-curve because of the high pressure from the western part of the Philippines,” Quiblat said.

Bising is the second tropical cyclone to enter the country this year after Auring last month.

Bising is expected to exit the country next Monday or Tuesday.

At least one tropical cyclone is expected to enter the country this month.
