THE Mayor’s League of the Philippines-Cebu chapter called on former Aloguinsan mayor Cynthia Moreno to pay heed to the arrest warrant issued by the Sandiganbayan against her and seven other officials.

“Balaod mana. Sandiganbayan mana, dapat mo-follow lang unta sila unsay naa sa balaod (That’s the law. That’s from the Sandiganbayan. They should follow it, that’s the law),” said Tuburan town Mayor Democrito Diamante, president of the Mayor’s League-Cebu chapter.

Moreno along with seven other officials are facing 10 years imprisonment and perpetual disqualification from public office for the anomalous purchase of construction materials worth more than P1 million.

Others who stand accused are Councilor Emelia Luz Celis, Municipal Budget Officer Nonela Villegas, Municipal Agricultural Officer Marilyn Flordeliza, Municipal Assessor John Lim, Municipal Engineer Orven Nengasca, utility worker Getrudes Ababon and retired local civil registrar Pepito Mangulimotan.

The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) served the warrant of arrest to Moreno last Tuesday.

PIB head Supt. Yape told Cebu Daily News they haven’t found Moreno and the other 7 officials.
