2 die in road mishaps in south Cebu

TWO died while three others got injured in separate road accidents in the southern Cebu towns of Alcantara and Oslob.

PO1 Erwin delos Santos of Alcantara Police Station said the victim was driving his motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol. He was heading to Alcantara Police Station to report a mauling incident, but upon reaching a curved portion of the road around  7 p.m. last Friday, he lost his balance and rammed his motorcycle into a concrete fence. Isugan sustained severe head injuries due to the impact.

Delos Santos said the victim was attending a fiesta celebration in an adjacent barangay when he engaged in a heated argument with a certain Ronald Gemina during a drinking session. Gemina allegedly punched Isugan.

Meanwhile in Oslob town, a 29-year-old woman also died after the motorcycle she was riding on collided with another motorcycle along the national road of Barangay Alo, around 2 p.m. on the same day.

The fatality was identified as Loremay Roma, single. The driver of the motorcycle, 40-year-old Katrina Romero, got injured.

PO2 Ariel Taguam of Oslob Police Station revealed that Romero and Roma were coming from Santander town and were heading to their hometown of Boljoon.

But upon reaching Barangay Alo, Romero overtook a dump truck but instead collided with another motorcycle driven by Max Alejandrino Dinglasa, 35, on the opposite lane.

Roma suffered severe injuries and was brought to the hospital but was declared dead by an attending physician.

Dinglasa, on the other hand, was temporarily put under the custody of Oslob Police Station.
