“MURA’G uyab.”

That’s how Enrique Gil described his relationship with onscreen partner Liza Soberano during their visit to Cebu yesterday to promote their post Valentine Star Cinema film, “My Ex and Whys” which will open today in 200 cinemas nationwide.

“Murag uyab,” simply means “like a couple” in English.

Clueless, Liza started correcting Enrique when she misunderstood what “murag uyab” means and when she was told its acronym is also “M.U.”

“No, no, hindi kami magsyota,” she said but when she understood what the Bisaya term actually means, she smiled and tried to mimic the words Enrique said.

“Ah, okay. Murag ugyab … I mean, murag uyab,” said Liza, making the press people cheer for her, upon hearing her speak in Cebuano.

For their three years as a love team, Liza and Enrique have been dodging questions about what their relationship status is. Not until Sunday night, when the two finally confessed in the late night Kapamilya show “Gandang Gabi Vice,” that they are in love with each other.

“Very much (in love),” said Enrique when asked how much he loves Liza during their press conference held at Radisson Blu yesterday.

“We’re not into a relationship but as what everybody saw (on TV) … parang sinabi ni Tito Ogie (Diaz, Liza’s manager) na he trusts us. We are just happy that we have earned that trust. Si Daddy nalang ang kulang. We are in a good place right now,” said Liza when asked about her confession that Enrique is special to her.

Enrique said they still don’t want to put a label on their relationship because Liza has yet to fulfill a promise she made to her dad and her uncle.

“Yung Lolo niya po sa States, siya yung secondary (Papa niya). ‘Yun po talaga ang nagpalaki sa kanya sa States when she was still kid hanggang teenager na. May promise siya sa Daddy niya na around 21 or 22 pwede na daw (mag-boyfriend). Malapit na,” said Enrique.

The 19-year-old actress shared that her studies is on top of her priorities and that she has to finish it first before getting into a relationship.

Both Liza and Enrique are currently enrolled in a business management course and it will have to take four more years before they officially put a label to whatever it is they have now.

The two stars, known as LizQuen to their fans, visited Cebu for their mall tours at SM City Cebu and SM Seaside City Cebu to promote their film “My Ex and Whys,” directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

“We want to promote love, second chances, and trust, at pag nagmahal ka at nasaktan, magmahal ka ulit,” said Enrique.

The film follows the story of Cali (Liza) who owns a blog “The Bakit List” and her ex (Gio (Enrique), who makes an unexpected return on her life.

According to Liza, she had a hard time relating to her character, Cali, since she has never been in a relationship and never experienced a break-up.

“It was on the trailer. ‘Yung ‘kapalit-palit ba ako?’ We shot it in eight hours for my part alone,” Liza said identifying the hardest part of the shoot.

In that specific scene, Liza confronted the character of Enrique why he cheated on her.

“It was difficult to express the specific emotion just because I haven’t been in that relationship. Direk Cathy just wanted to show everyone that no matter how beautiful you are, if he will change you for another person, mawawala ‘yun. It takes away all confidence,” he said.

“My Ex and Why’s” also stars Joey Marquez, Ara Mina, Ziajian Jaranilla, Dominic Roque, Ryan Bang, Neil Coleta and Cai Cortez.
