Let it go! Let it go! A ‘Frozen’ sing-along celebration

Elsa and Anna

Elsa and Anna

ORLANDO Florida — Okay … I’ll admit it.

I am a terrible singer.

Only in the shower will you hear me belt out a Broadway tune, something by Led Zeppelin or even a ballad from Frank Sinatra that will get me in the mood to challenge the day.

But here at Disney’s Hollywood Studios you will find the House of Mouse has created the ultimate sing-along to the animated worldwide hit “Frozen.”
Seated along with at least 1,000 of your instant best female friends, you can crank loose your inner Adele and blast loose with words and music from the animated hit “Frozen.”

Here is the official synopsis: “Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” presents “Frozen,” a stunning
big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

“Frozen” features music from Tony winner Robert Lopez (“The Book of Mormon”) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (“In Transit”). “Frozen” features eight original songs from songwriting duo Kristen and Robert Lopez (“The Book of Mormon”), including the gripping “Let It Go,” performed by Broadway star Idina Menzel.”

Okay, for those of you who have been living in a cave, and have not seen “Frozen” when it was released in the theaters, now you have a basic idea what this animated masterpiece is all about.

At this special attraction here at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and after you’re seated in a massive amphitheater, human character actors taken from the Frozen movie “universe” will seemingly be ad-libbing their lines, as they progress the audience step-by-step through the animated movie.

If you ask me, it’s all a bit silly.

But buddy, let me tell you that when the bouncing snowball hits the lines of “Let It Go” and the cartoon Elsa starts belting out this powerful tune, the real-life Menzel cranks up the vocal “heat” … then auditorium literally shakes down to its concrete foundation from the voices of the collective audience (you can figure are at least 95 percent female) who go absolutely bonkers.

My wife Cris Evert is a diehard “Frozen Fan”—she can’t wait for the sequel to come out in a few years—and had no idea what this attraction was about when I dragged her inside.

She pretty much freaked when the lights dimmed and the music pounded up.

To every gentlemen who is reading this review who may have marital issues or want to make the ultimate impression on their fiancée,
girlfriend or teenage daughter, you need to hearken to this review.

Here at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, I sat in abject silence to watch my (much) better half completely lose her mind.
The “Frozen” Sing-Along is THAT powerful of a collective experience.

Personally, I don’t get it.

But that is why my opinion—to my wife at least—really didn’t matter during this 30 sing-along event.

Movie sing-alongs in America are nothing new. The most frantic attendance comes when theaters release the neo-classic 1977 romantic musical comedy “Grease” with Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta be-bopping their way through the 1950’s.

But “Grease” is a sad sister next to what Disney has unleashed.

Of course it helps having Menzel’s hypnotic voice cascading throughout the arena but this event touches each individual’s heart and soul like no other Disney attraction has been able to do.

Without hesitation, I thoroughly recommend every human male reading this review, to immediately cash in every single airline frequent flyer mile you have been saving up and zoom across the skies (as in right now buster!) to Orlando, Florida and make a bee-line to Disney’s Hollywood Studios with your significant female other to experience this true, sing-along celebration.

Then sit back … and watch the transformation begin!
