ABSENT-MINDED CABBIE

The reminder not to text while driving doesn’t just apply to motorists but also public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers who have passengers to fetch and drive to their destination.

A taxi driver picked up a passenger who told him to head to a mall near Archbishop Reyes Avenue.

The taxi driver was kept busy texting while driving and mistakenly brought the passenger to a mall at the North Reclamation Area. The passenger was pissed off and told the driver to bring her to her destination.

When they reached the area, she paid him the fare minus the extra mileage he made for the wrong trip.

Are taxi drivers allowed to dictate on where to drop off their passengers?

A passenger told the driver to head to a government agency near Gorordo Avenue. She told him to just drop her off near a police precinct but he refused.

He told her it’s easier for him to head to another destination where there’s less traffic.

Angered by his refusal, the commuter replied, “No thanks”, and got out, to the driver’s chagrin.
