USC adds two USPF spikers to its lineup for Reg’l Prisaa

THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) Lady Warriors beefed up their roster for the incoming women’s volleyball tournament of the Private Schools Athletics Association (Prisaa) regional meet by adding two players from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF).

In an interview with Cebu Daily News, Lady Warriors mentor Norvie Labuga said they picked up USPF team captain Richa Valerie Tangeres and setter Gladeis Gapol to join them in the regional competition on February 24-26 in Tagbilaran, Bohol.

Players from the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ–R) were also supposed to join the Lady Warriors but upon knowing that the school won’t shoulder the expenses of the athletes, Labuga decided to pick the Lady Panther duo.

The 20-year-old Tangeres is grateful of the opportunity to be selected and vowed to help the Lady Warriors in any way possible.

“I’m happy and blessed because in a pool of hardworking and passionate players, I was chosen by the USC jury to be one of their players in the upcoming Prisaa,” Tangeres said.

Her teammate Gapol, on the other hand, will also play a vital role in USC’s run for the crown as she will play second fiddle to USC’s court general Christa Gonzales, who is likely to start at the setter spot.

Aside from the Lady Warriors, schools who are set to enter the competition are University of Bohol and the Bohol Institute of Technology.
