Fisherman rescues woman who jumped off new bridge

Mary Grace Palomares, 41, of Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City was attended to by rescue personnel after she jumped off Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

Rescue personnel take care of the woman who survived after jumping over the Marcelo Fernan bridge.

A 41-year old woman was rushed to Lapu-Lapu City Hospital after she sustained injuries from jumping off the Marcelo Fernan Bridge past 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

The woman from Lapu-Lapu City was rescued by a fisherman, who heard a splash and saw a body emerge nearby.

The fisherman immediately brought the woman ashore and residents in the area sought police assistance.

The woman was weak when she was brought to the Lapu-Lapu City hospital. Pusok Barangay Councilor Marieta Layagin, who lives in the area, said that she spoke with the woman who could only manage to tell her name and address.
