One of the barangay captains from the 30 barangays in Lapu-Lapu City will replace the late councilor Damian Gomez.
Acting Vice Mayor Harry Radaza said the 30 barangay captains are among those being considered as replacement for the late councilor Damian Gomez.
However, Radaza said, they do not also discount the possibility that a member of the Gomez family will be named to fill the vacancy at the City Council.
Radaza said their list of nominees will be submitted to acting Mayor Marcial Ycong for his selection.
Ycong, for his part, said he will allow suspended Mayor Paz Radaza to pick Gomez’ replacement.
Gomez, a member of Radaza’s Deretso party, died in a Cebu City hospital on Thursday.
His wake is now at the St. Peter’s Chapel in Mandaue City and is scheduled to be transferred to the Lapu-Lapu City Hall on March 10 (Friday) for an overnight vigil at the city hall building lobby.
Gomez’ will be buried at the Cebu-Mactan Memorial Gardens in Barangay Marigondon on March 11 (Saturday).
