EDIBLE PAPER
WHILE eating at a fast-food restaurant, a female diner overheard two friends talking about the piece of paper placed under a “siopao” or Chinese meat bun.
One of them asked the other why she took a bite of her siopao without removing the paper, and the other replied that the paper is edible.
She said the restaurant wouldn’t have placed it on the siopao if it wasn’t. Accepting it as truth, the friend ate the paper on the siopao without hesitation.
WAITING ON RETIREMENT
This government official, while very warm to reporters, is noticeably distant when sought for comment on pressing issues facing his industry.
In one interview, he gave really vague and inconsistent answers and inaccurate figures regarding industry performance, which irked reporters.
Inside sources say this long-time official, only recently assigned to his post in Cebu, was just waiting for his retirement. “That’s why he’s not really into his job anymore,” a source said.
CUSTOMER HOSTILITY
A customer scolded a service crew member at a restaurant’s take-out counter and insisted on ordering for dine-in meals even when told that he lined up at the take-out counter.
Despite the customer’s hostility, the crew member kept her cool and asked him to line up at one of their regular counters.
It wasn’t long before the other customers who lined up confronted him and told him to get out of the line lest they report him to the police.
