Belano tops March edition of Wesley So chess

JOHN Lester Belano topped the March edition of the Little Wesley So Chess Cup held at the Knight Attack Chess Café at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu last Sunday.

Belano, who topped the February edition of the monthly tournament organized by the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA), finished the seven-round Swiss system format competition with 6.0 points.

Jerish John Velarde and January champion Jave Peteros both had 5.5 points but the former had a higher tie break score to finish second. Peteros settled for third place.

With the victory, Belano won P1,000 cash prize while Velarde and Peteros received P700 and P500, respectively.
