AFTER placing second to Marathon Queen Mary Joy Tabal in the SM2SM Run last month, Ruffa Sorongon returned to the top of the podium yesterday by ruling the first ever Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Bubble Run at the Cebu Business Park (CBP) grounds.

Her win in the 5-kilometer race was Sorongon’s second this year after she won last January’s 21k division of the Cebu City Marathon.

She finished yesterday’s race in 22 minutes and 34 seconds outpacing Nancy del Castillo who finished second in 34:10 and Angela Jamila Mae Dy who came in third in 50:10.

Meanwhile, Kenyans’ Eric Chepsiror and James Mibei dominated the 5k men’s open by clocking 15:40 and 16:50, respectively. Jimmy Yu finished third in 21:39.

In the 5k students/parents category, Dary Dave Sapo and Charlotte Trabadillo captured the top spots in 22:55 and 34:42, respectively.

Ariel Saballa ruled the 3k open in 10:31 while junior triathlete Moira Frances Erediano won the distaff title in 14:08.

Andre Gabatero topped the 3k students/parents category in 15:00 while Precious Yap topped the female side in 18:04. The Kuantiu Family on the other hand, won the 3k family category with the time of 28:20.
