AN 83-year-old woman died after she was hit by a passenger multi-cab in Barangay Poblacion, Alcantara at 8 p.m. last Tuesday.
Dionisia Nacio, widowed and a resident of Barangay Pulo, Alcantara town, failed to make it to the Badian district hospital after sustaining severe head injuries.
Initial investigation showed that the victim went unnoticed by multi-cab driver Loreto Belono, a resident of Barangay Ylaya, Dumanjug town.
He was headed north when he saw Nacio too late and tried to avoid hitting her. Belono is detained at the Alcantara police precinct pending the filing of charges against him.
In a similar incident, a 15-year-old girl is in serous condition after she was hit by an underaged motorcycle driver in Barangay Guiwanon, Barili town at 6 p.m. last Tuesday.
PO3 Jorvie Timagos of the Barili police precinct identified the victim as Alyana Navaja, a resident of the area.
Timagos said Navaja and her mother were crossing the street when she was hit by the teenage driver who also sustained injuries.
