THE HEIGHT
A group of reporters and photographers was waiting for a suspect to undergo the inquest proceedings when one of them suddenly spoke out, noting that the suspect was not tall at all. She said the suspect was shorter than she imagined.
This prompted another reporter to ask her about her height. She responded, “Ako? 4’9”. Mo-4’10” usahay.” This drew laughter from her colleagues since the suspect was 5’6” tall.
DETAINEE
The head of an anti-narcotic group that called for a press conference to present drug suspects asked the media practitioners to wait for a while.
The reason? The suspects were still changing their shirts to those with the word “detainee” printed on it.
When one photojournalist commented that the shirt of the agency has a cool design, the director of the anti-narcotic group said that if the photojournalist wanted one, the director would give it to him but under one condition:
“Pero prisohon ka namo diri; detainee na man ka (But we will put you in prison since you are a detainee),” he said in jest.
VANISHING BISCUITS
During a press conference of a ranking government official, he offered biscuits to the reporters gathered for the presser.
The box of biscuits was immediately passed around and was almost empty when it got back to the government official.
“Hala nahurot na (Oh, are they gone)?” the official asked.
One reporter sheepishly returned one biscuit to the box, thinking the official was angry. But the official just laughed and said the reporters could take as many biscuits as they wanted.
