PUBLIC CALL
A city official was in the middle of a meeting when his phone rang, to the surprise of those in attendance.
He talked on his phone as if no one else was around and then ended the call, acting as if nothing happened even if everyone inside the room heard every detail of his conversation.
FAUX PAS
During a summit, the host made an unfortunate faux pas when she called on a speaker who died a week before.
It turned out that she overlooked the part where she was supposed to offer condolences on behalf of the organizer.
OVERTAKE
A young man told his friend whom he hitched a ride with to overtake the vehicle in front of them.
He told it tongue in cheek, but his friend took it as a challenge and overtook the vehicle in front, narrowly avoiding an accident.
The young man instantly regretted his comment and said he won’t joke about it again, drawing a half smile from his friend.
