Pascual writes final score

ATTY. Pascual writes a weekly sports column in Cebu Daily News titled “My Score.”

He was one of the paper’s pioneer columnists whose nuggets about the action-packed world of sports never failed to provide precious lessons for everyone who care to read.

In his columns, he vented his frustrations about the ills of Philippine sports.

From the grandstanding, inept politicians to ill-advised sports projects and wayward programs.

He was a walking encyclopedia in sports, be it tennis – which was his first love – to basketball and just about everything with a racket and a ball in it.
Apart from his hard-hitting columns, Atty. Pascual also gave sound advice to aspiring players, start-up leagues and tournaments.

He wove facts and fiction with the mastery of a poet in his weekly “My Score” column.

The last time Atty. Pascual visited CDN was last February during the paper’s 19th anniversary.

That night, he gamely posed with the Sports section staff and did the iconic thumbs up.

“Lito Pascual was a dedicated sportsman and a great friend. He is indeed a BIG LOSS to Mandaue sports. I grieve his demise,” declared boxing patron Tony Aldeguer.

“He was a good corporate lawyer who also loved sports and writing. He was sharp and intelligent,” said Rico Navarro, a close family friend of the Pascuals.

Atty. Pascual may have earned a few critics for his columns, but they paled in comparison to the hordes who thanked him for his frank and candid voice in “My Score.”

And now, after all the hard hits and flagrant fouls as well as the booming treys, photo finishes and game-winning homeruns, Atty. Pascual wrote his final score.
