Cviraa teams need to improve

THERE’S more room for improvement for the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (Cviraa) football squads preparing for the Palarong Pambansa.

Cviraa’s juniors team ended its campaign in the Mayor’s Cup Football Invitational with a 3-2 (win-loss) record after scoring a 4-1 win yesterday against the University of San Carlos (USC)at the DBTC football field yesterday.

Its under-14 squad reached the finals but they bowed to the Don Bosco Technological Center, 0-2, at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Glen Ramos, the head coach of both teams, said that the tournament helped him assess the team’s status before they leave for Antique Province for the Palarong Pambansa.

“The under-14 team (members) are all first-timers and don’t have enough experience unlike the players that played for CVIRAA and Palarong Pambansa last year. But I think these boys just need a little bit of exposure to build their confidence,” Ramos said. “But I still commend their efforts for giving their all against bigger and more experienced teams.”

Ramos said the teams have to improve their defensive line since it was the main reason why they struggled in the tournament.
The Cviraa squads have two weeks to prepare for the Palarong Pambansa.
