MORE BEAUTIFUL

A BROADCASTER known for his wily sense of humor was wistful when he commented on the feud between two presidential allies that worsened when the official’s common-law partner blamed the dispute on a spat she had with the rival’s girlfriend.

“If I were as rich as they were, I would have chosen a Miss Binibining Pilipinas or a Miss Universe,” the broadcaster chortled.

The broadcaster may have forgotten or conveniently left out the part that one of the two officials used to be married to a beauty queen then left her for his current flame.

DUTERTE’S JABS

President Rodrigo Duterte’s verbal tirades against two major media entities last week drew sharp responses from local netizens.

Many Duterte supporters called for a boycott, while others called for these media entities to be shut down. But there were those who criticized the President’s attacks for being way out of line.

“Ganahan niyo diay balikon martial law? Wa nay media, wa din Facebook? (You want a return to martial law? No media, no Facebook)?” one of the netizens said.

COMEBACK

A FORMER official who lost his election bid is said to have started his comeback plans for the next polls by making the rounds of local media circles.

One of his supporters said his campaign will be a lot stronger than last year because he has the President’s ally on his corner.
