LONGEST reigning Filipino boxing world champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes doesn’t want to be over confident when he fights Komgrich Nantapech of Thailand for the vacant IBF world flyweight title in the “Pinoy Pride 40: Domination” on April 29 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Nietes (39 wins-1 loss-4 draws-22 KOs), the former WBO minimum weight and light flyweight champion, will attempt to become a three-division champion when he faces Nantapech.

“A lot of people are already expecting that I will win this fight in a lopsided way but I don’t put my mind into it,” Nietes said. “I don’t want to go inside the ring over confident and reckless, that’s why I have prepared for this fight very hard. Although it’s not that difficult to manage my weight in this training camp since I’ve climbed to a division higher, I still put on a lot of dedication and hard work to this so that I can assure of victory.”

Nietes had his final public workout last Saturday afternoon at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu together with Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo (15-0-0-11 KOs) and Jeo “Santino” Santisima (12-2-0-11 KOs), who are also scheduled to see action in the fight card.
