CEBU-BASED Japanese senior bowler Makoto Osada clinched the March title of the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba) Bowler of the Month Tournament last Saturday at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center.
Osada knocked down a total of 1,319 pins in six rounds, bouncing back from a so-so performance in the previous edition of the monthly tournament where he placed ninth.
Tony Calo had 1,275 pinfalls for second place while Roland Bantilan had 1,257 pinfalls for third place.
Osada joined Cetba board member Eric Bucoy and Ging Francisco in the list of qualifiers for the Bowler of the Year tournament scheduled this December.
Bucoy was the February champion while Francisco won the January title.
Friday group
Before the monthly tournament last Saturday, Cetba also had its Friday Group competition where Rose Camero and Fred Torrequemada were named the weekly winners.
Camera had 898 pinfalls while Torrequemada downed 892 pins top be crowned women’s and men’s champions, respectively.
Sonia Gakenholz and Baby Bacon were tied for second place in the women’s competition while Joseph Yu was the runner up in the men’s side./REPORTER GLENDALE G. ROSAL
